Saadian Tombs in Marrakech
There is little doubt that the Saadian Tombs are among the most visited tourist destinations in Marrakech. In 1917, when they were found, they were made available to the whole public.
A tiny corridor provides tourists with access to these tombs, which date back to the end of the sixteenth century and were constructed by Ahmad al-Mansur. They are situated inside a restricted garden and may be accessed by visitors.
Within the same garden, you can find more than one hundred graves that are exquisitely embellished with mosaics of various colors. There are around sixty members of the Saadi dynasty who have been laid to rest at the Saadian Tombs.
The main mausoleum
The main mausoleum is the most significant structure that may be found among the Saadian Tombs. Within the confines of this crypt lie the tombs of the Sultan Ahmad al-Mansur and his family. The mausoleum is comprised of three chambers, the most recognisable of which is the twelve columns chamber, which is the location where the children of the Sultan are laid to rest. This is the main burial chamber, which is where the tombs of Sultan Ahmad al-Mansur and his family are located.
Our opinion
In spite of the fact that we feel there are other attractions in Marrakech that are more intriguing, it is still worthwhile to devote a half an hour to this attraction, which costs 70 dh (about $7.10).
