Menara Gardens: Discover Marrakech’s historic haven
The Menara Gardens are Marrakech’s most popular landscaped garden located to the west of the medina, near the Atlas Mountains.
One of the most well-known gardens in Marrakech is called the Menara Gardens. During the twelfth century, they were erected in the vicinity of a lake, which served the purpose of providing water for the vegetable and fruit plants that were cultivated on the grounds. In the beginning, Abd al-Mu’min, the head of the Almohad Movement, was the one who provided the commission. 1870 was the year when the gardens had a renovation.
The lake, which is being supervised by a pavilion that was also refurbished by the Sultan Abderrahmane of Morocco, and the hundreds of olive trees that are surrounding the region are the most lovely aspects of this natural space.
Sidi Mohammed ibn Abdallah, the Sultan, is credited with constructing the pavilion, and it is thought that this is the location where the Sultans spoke with their associates.

Our opinion
There was a degree of dissatisfaction on our part about the Menara Gardens. As far as we are concerned, it seems to be more of a kitchen garden than a park, and the trees are so little that they do not provide any shade when the sun is up and shining. If you are planning a trip to Marrakech during the summer, we recommend that you go to this park when the temperature is not too high. This might be very early in the morning or late in the afternoon.
Going to the Jardin Majorelle is something that we strongly suggest you do if you are interested in seeing another park in Marrakech.
