Marrakech Museum: Explore the Heart of Moroccan Heritage
The Dar Menebhi Palace, which now serves as the location of the Marrakech Museum, was once the palace of Mehdi Mnebhi, who served as the Minister of Defense under Abdelaziz of Morocco.
In addition to being an excellent example of traditional Andalusian architecture, the palace was constructed around the tail end of the nineteenth century.
It was in 1997 that the Omar Benjelloun Foundation purchased the structure with the intention of restoring it and opening a portion of the palace as the Marrakech Museum. The Ben Youssef Madrasa and the Almoravid Koubba were both acquired by the same foundation at their respective times. Prior to its restoration, the palace had been used as a dwelling, and in the 1960s, it had served as a school for young women.
Do not overlook the wonderful lamp that is located on the patio, which is one of the building’s attractions, as well as the rooms that are arranged around the traditional courtyard. These halls are home to the museum’s collection, which mostly consists of weaponry, ceramics, and other things that are considered to be typical Moroccan.
Additionally, guests get the opportunity to visit the hammam of the palace and see one of the temporary exhibits.
